During her first spay attempt, a heart murmur was discovered. We waited, hopeful that time would make things safer for her. When we tried again, Juno flat-lined under anesthesia. She survived, but it changed everything.

A full examination with Dr. Gillies revealed what her tiny body had been trying to tell us all along — Juno has an enlarged heart. She can never be spayed. She can never be adopted. She can never safely go under anesthesia again. Her life will be shorter than it should be.

Haven was found wandering onto a rural property, sheltering in a freezing barn. She didn’t get along with the other barn cats, and we were soon contacted to help. She was already spayed, which leads us to believe she had once been someone’s pet—likely abandoned, as there were no nearby homes.

This sweet senior girl is FIV-positive and was originally adopted into a loving home as an only cat. Sadly, one year later she was returned to us in very poor condition. She was battling a urinary tract infection, severe muscle loss, vomiting, lethargy, and spent much of her time hiding.

Our veterinary team ran extensive tests, and the results were heartbreaking: Haven has an extremely rare form of cancer.

She is now living in a loving palliative foster home, where her days are filled with comfort, warmth, gentle care, and dignity—exactly what every senior cat deserves in their golden years. 💛

Buttercup was born with a severely enlarged liver, a condition that has shaped every part of her young life. Because her body cannot safely process anesthesia or vaccines, she can never be spayed and is unable to receive routine vaccinations—making her medically fragile and in need of lifelong specialized care.
